USC Libraries Acquire Rare Lewis Carroll Letter

The USC Libraries acquired a rare 3-page letter from author Lewis Carroll at a March 19 auction in London. The USC Libraries bid anonymously to surprise longtime supporters and founders of the libraries' Cassady Lewis Caroll Collection, Dr. George Cassady and his wife Linda. Dean Catherine unveiled the letter before an audience of 350 students at last night's Wonderland Unbound Visions and Voices event. Keep reading for more details.

New Electrical Outlets, Study Spaces in Doheny and VKC Libraries

Extended Friday Evening Hours at Doheny, Science & Engineering, and VKC Libraries

Beginning later this month, Doheny Memorial Library, the Science & Engineering Library, and VKC Library will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evenings. After the three libraries close, patrons may visit Leavey Library for their late-night study and research needs. Leavey Library serves the USC community 24 hours a day during the week, closing only from 12:00 midnight to 9:00 a.m. early Sunday morning. Keep reading to learn more about these new later hours, part of the USC Libraries' continuing efforts to better serve the research and study needs of the USC community.

Interlibrary Loan Circulation Services Moving to Leavey Library

Effective January 3, 2012, the USC Libraries' Interlibrary Loan (ILL) circulation service will be moving to Leavey Library's circulation desk from its current location in Doheny Library. Through the libraries' ILL service, USC students, faculty, and staff can request books and other circulating materials from other lending libraries. With the move to Leavey Library, patrons will now have 24-hour access to ILL materials, and Integrated Document Delivery staff will be available to provide immediate support or reference help.

Reserve Leavey Library Study Rooms Online

Leavey Library's 35 collaborative study rooms can now be reserved online. Part of the USC Libraries' continuing efforts to serve the study space needs of the USC community, the new LibCal service allows anyone with a usc.edu e-mail address to quickly see which rooms are available and book a room for up to two hours per day. USC students: enjoy free pizza and share your vision for the future of Leavey Library tonight, Wednesday, September 21. The USC Libraries are seeking students' input on how to design Leavey Library's spaces, resources, and services to best meet the academic needs of the USC community. Undergraduate students are invited to attend the first session, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and graduate students the second session from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in Learning Room A on the ground floor of Leavey Library. Pizza will be provided. RSVPs to Ben Spofford at spofford@usc.edu are appreciated, but not required.
