On Dec. 16, 2009, at 6:00 p.m., the USC Libraries will upgrade the HOMER catalog. The new system will support access to materials in non-Roman scripts (such as Korean- and Arabic-language materials) and provide book-cover images and other enhancements. HOMER catalog searches will not be affected, but holds, interlibrary loan, and other functions will be unavailable until the afternoon of Jan. 5.
The new design for the USC Libraries home page will go live on December 17. After evaluating the effectiveness, accessibility, and usability of current home page search features, an Essential Library task force recommended a series of changes intended to make resource discovery the clear focus of the USC Libraries’ home page. The beta design is a direct result of those recommendations. Visit the beta to see its improved search experience and design.
The HOMER online catalog will be unavailable from midnight on Saturday, Oct. 17 through 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. We'll be conducting routine system maintenance, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

In honor of electrical engineering pioneer and cult figure Nikola Tesla, the libraries present a selection of resources to help you learn more about his life. To start, you can search the HOMER catalog for biographies and books detailing his inventions--including one with patents and blueprints for his earthquake machine--and the early history of electricity.
