A recently released beta version of the USC Libraries' Homer catalog offers a powerful new way to find books, e-books, print journals, and other resources held by the USC Libraries. With a new search technology that provides more relevant results — a feature requested by USC students and other library users on the Essential Ideas website — the beta version of Homer enhances the discoverability of library resources and better meets the expectations of the USC community. Additional services, better usability, and more support for mobile devices are coming soon to the USC Libraries' Homer catalog. Homer will be offline on December 20 and 21 while we implement this upgrade. Full service will resume by 9:00 a.m. on December 22. The Library of Congress named W.S. Merwin the 2010-11 U.S. poet laureate on Thursday. For the author of over 30 books of poetry and prose, the appointment follows a career's worth of honors, including two Pulitzer Prizes and a National Book Award. The HOMER online catalog is undergoing database maintenance throughout the weekend of March 12-14. During this time, the catalog is available for searching and account functions; however, you may experience inconsistent search results.

The HOMER upgrade is complete, and all functions are now available--including holds, interlibrary loan, and online account access. HOMER now supports access to materials in non-Roman scripts (such as Korean- and Arabic-language materials) as well as book-cover images and numerous other enhancements.
