On May 1-2, the USC Libraries hosted the Outsanding Academic Papers by Students (OAPS) 9th-annual task force meeting. Click here for photos from the two-day conference, or scroll down for the slideshow.
OAPS is a collaborative, international program by academic research libraries to encourage, recognize, and preserve excellence in student scholarship. Representatives from four East Asian universities--City University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tsinghua University--joined Dean Catherine Quinlan, Associate Dean Hugh McHarg, and other library faculty and staff to discuss the OAPS program.
Participants met USC faculty and toured several USC library locations, including Doheny Memorial Library, the Helen Topping Architecture and Fine Arts Library, Hoose Philosophy Library, and the Science and Engineering Library. They also visited local cultural and educational institutions, including the Autry National Center of the American West, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) Library, and the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens.
The OAPS annual meeting is the third international conference hosted by the USC Libraries this academic year. Previously, the USC Libraries welcomed German exile scholars for the fifth biennial conference of the International Feuchtwanger Society in September, and in November hosted the Pacific Rim Digital Library Alliance (PRDLA) annual meeting.
